About Salt Ayre Cog Set

Salt Ayre Cog Set is a British Cycling accredited Go-Ride Club. This means that we aim to support all young riders from the age of 6 and upwards to enjoy their cycling. We have a brilliant Saturday session that runs between March and September that is held at the Salt Ayre Cycle Circuit, Doris Henderson Way, Lancaster. This is a dedicated cycle circuit, which means the coaches can develop the riders on a safe, traffic free circuit.

We run 5 groups every Saturday: an off road coaching session for riders who like mountain biking or who want to ride off road generally. We then have 4 ability groups on the cycle circuit itself where we help riders just starting out to become safer and steadier, and at the higher level, to be really accomplished in all aspects of bike riding, including aspects of racing.

Our sessions run from 10am to 12pm, with sign on beginning around 9.40am. There are free refreshments for all the riders and hot drinks for adults for a small donation.

In addition, we run family ride outs to a local café, take the older riders out to explore the local roads, run mid-week training for riders who want to push on with their fitness and race skills, and participate in a full range of local, regional and national racing.
